About the Haunted North Carolina TeamHaunted North Carolina, then known as Seven Paranormal Research, was founded in 1992 as a research organization dedicated to hauntings and related phenomena. It began in what may be the most haunted house in North Carolina. Founders Janet and Kady survived 9 months there and after moving from the house into more peaceful residences, began to wonder how one little house could possible hold that much energy and unexplained activity. The original journals from that house are part of today's Haunted North Carolina files. Years spent learning, pursuing education in the field of parapsychology, researching and theorizing turned into field work with other groups and on their own. In 1998, Seven became a more cohesive organization with specific short and long range working goals towards research and education in the paranormal field, with a focus on the phenomena of hauntings and ghosts. Today, Haunted North Carolina, Inc. is a non-profit corporation dedicated to investigation, research, and education in the paranormal field. All of our members go through an extensive interview process and training before they bring to Haunted North Carolina diverse experience in fields that compliment our research. Human psychology, paranormal phenomena, theology, information research, photography, writing, history, administration, genealogy, computer software and expertise on construction and electrical work... all strong skills present in our members. No one member has a lock on anything, and with a strong team belief and combination of skills, Haunted North Carolina continues to grow and gather new information in this field. OUR GOALS AND PHILOSOPHY: Haunted North Carolina holds two main goals. The first is the investigation, research and understanding of paranormal phenomena surrounding ghosts and hauntings. To this end, we seek out and investigate potentially or reportedly haunted locations, doing background research and on-site gathering of data. Our second goal is education, both for those interested in entering this field of study and for those who may be experiencing this phenomena and would like to understand more about it. Our website is one educational tool for hobbyists or beginning ghost researchers who are looking to increase their skills and experience, and our goal is to provide a top rated resource for anyone interested in this field. Our philosophy is simple. We believe that with an open mind we can learn. We do not enter an investigation with preconceived ideas or prejudices. We take all information presented, research the location, people and event as fully as possible as well as interpret actual information gathered during the investigation. We are open to all possibilities. We approach each investigation with an objective mind... no one knows exactly, precisely what causes haunting phenomena. We believe that only by putting aside any personal beliefs can we gather and, more importantly, evaluate data in an objective and scientifically oriented manner. We do not play. We do not take Ouija boards into cemeteries at night, hold séances and the like, nor do we challenge or taunt potential entities. To do so is neither professional, smart or responsible. We respect the fact the others may hold different viewpoints than ours. There are many theories and methods in this field, many valid possibilities and we feel we can only learn and expand our knowledge through acceptance and respect for other ideas as well as critical thinking. We do not feel there is much room for competition, but plenty of room for cooperation and only by sharing ideas and knowledge will the field of paranormal research advance. It isn't a race, it's a journey. We respect the fact we are on either public property or on private property with permission, and treat it as a privilege. We will maintain confidence when asked. During any investigation we act in a professional, respectful manner. This includes appropriate dress, language, and behavior. There will be no use of alcohol or drugs prior or during the investigation. We are part of a team. There is no one person more important than the next. We are not a club that seeks to "investigate" for a cool weekend fun -time event. Rather we are a functioning organization that researches this phenomena in many ways - from education to investigations, and for specific purpose. We do not charge for our investigations. We are non-profit, and while donations are gladly accepted, they are never expected. We perform scientific investigations. We cannot catch ghosts in boxes ala Ghostbusters and take them away, nor will we claim such. We are available to help understand the phenomena you may be experiencing, answer questions and provide support. We work hard, and feel that anything less degrades the work of other investigators. This is a tough enough field of study without adding to the stereotypes frequently formed by others. We will continue to work in a professional and non-profit manner. Our goals are the research and contribution we can make to this field in the form of data collection and evaluation. Any funds we may raise go directly to furthering this research. Whether it is in the form of an information or investigation request, or a comment or suggestion, we always welcome you to contact us. |
